Coming back from the injury layout, Venus Williams looks in top-notch. The American comfortably defeated Aravane Rezai of France 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of 600,000 WTA Amelia Island tournament. There is no doubt that Venus has lost some of her spark as well as power but still she is good enough for lots of players in WTA circuit.
Through out the match, Venus looked very confident. Her serve was quick and accurate whereas her backhand and forehand shot were lethal. Most importantly, there were not too many unforced errors.
Winner of five Grand Slams, Williams recently ended a title drought when she won at Memphis but was comprehensively beaten by Maria Sharapova in the third round at Miami.
If Venus manages to win this tournament, she will not only get the much needed match practice and confidence but would also play a prominent role in regaining her ranking.
